Lakewood's planning board approved the first phase of The Parke at Lakewood on September 1. The plan creates 129 lots off Cross Street, and the first phase is 58 duplex buildings with 116 homes.

The story
On September 1, Lakewood Township's planning board voted all in favor to approve 129 new lots for The Parke at Lakewood, LLC, on land at 688 and 752 Cross Street and 2 Augusta Boulevard.
This vote covers the first phase of a larger plan for the whole site that the board approved earlier. The developer's attorney said this phase is 58 duplex buildings, 116 homes, fits the town's zoning rules, and already has the state's coastal permit (CAFRA). The developer's engineer said phases 2 through 5 were shown only for reference and are not part of this approval.
The minutes describe the layout: public roads 32 feet wide, 141 on-street parking spaces, and a community building and a playground in each phase. The engineer described a 41-acre buffer. The Cross Street road work from the earlier approval has to be finished before the final move-in approval for phase 1, and the engineer said those three lanes are already built.
Board members disagreed about how many homes the earlier plan allows across all phases, and said they would take that up when later phases are applied for.
