119 townhomes are proposed
on Independence Boulevard.

A plan called Oasis at Sicklerville would build 119 townhomes on vacant land at 2 and 4 West Independence Boulevard in Gloucester Township, Camden County. On the tax map, the land is Block 18319, Lots 1 and 1.01. Besides the townhomes, the plan splits off four lots for stormwater management and open space.

The Camden County Planning Board approved the plan on August 25, on a condition. The township had not approved it yet, so the county's approval holds only if Gloucester Township requires no changes. If the township does ask for changes, the applicant has to bring revised plans back to the county board. The county board also looked at the road work: the plan widens Williamstown-Erial Road (County Route 704) and adds a sidewalk along it.

The township's review comes next. Gloucester Township's planning board found the application complete on June 9 and has it on the agenda for its September 22 meeting, which starts at 7:00 p.m. The applicant is asking for preliminary and final approval of how the land is split into lots and how the site is laid out. An agenda schedules a hearing; it does not decide anything.

The same county meeting also approved The Palms at Sicklerville, a separate townhouse plan that also widens Williamstown-Erial Road. The records we read name no builder, prices or construction schedule for Oasis at Sicklerville. If you own a home or land near Independence Boulevard, September 22 is when the township board hears the plan.

The county's approval is conditional and an agenda schedules a hearing; neither is a township approval. Plans and timing can change.
